Semi-Final and Final matches will be held at Harding Park on Saturday & Sunday, March 6 & 7. Match play rounds will be contested following qualifying rounds and will be posted by flight.

FORMAT:

Individual stroke play competition will determine the fields for match play in all divisions.

MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION * :
(Eligibility based on a 12/01/09 index of 4.5 or lower) ENTRY FEE $160

The first 240 entries received shall be eligible to qualify for the Men’s Championship Flight. Of those 240 entries, 96 contestants shall proceed directly into the Championship qualifying based upon the exempt categories or by earliest date entry received. The balance of contestants shall compete in a one round pre–qualifying competition at Lincoln Park Golf Course. The low 48 qualifiers on Friday shall advance to the weekend qualifying at Lincoln Park and Harding Park Golf Courses. Over that weekend, the low 63 scores completing the 36 hole qualifying from the field of 144 contestants will advance to match play at Harding Park along with the defending champion, who shall hold the number one seed for match play. Individual scores will determine the seeding for match play. Participants must be 12 years of age or over.

MEN'S OPEN FLIGHT DIVISIONS * :
(No index is required) ENTRY FEE $100

Open to the first 256 entries received. Contestants will play in an 18-Hole qualifying round at Lincoln Park. The individual score of those completing the qualifying round will be used to assign flights of 32 players each and seeding for match play. Participants must be 12 years of age or older.

WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP AND OPEN FLIGHT DIVISIONS * :
(No index is required) ENTRY FEE $130

The first 64 entries shall be eligible to qualify for the Women’s Championship Flight. Championship qualifying will consist of one 18-hole stroke play round at Harding Park Golf Course. The low 15 scores will advance to the Women’s Championship match play at Harding Park along with the defending champion, who shall hold the number one seed for match play. Individual scores will determine seeding for match play. All participants who do not qualify for the Championship Flight have the option to enter the open flight divisions. Participants must be 12 years of age or older.

MEN’S SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION * :
(Eligibility based on a 12/01/09 index of 9.4 or lower) ENTRY FEE $130

The first 120 entries received shall be eligible to qualify for the Senior Men’s Championship flight. Championship qualifying will consist of one 18–hole stroke play round at Harding Park Golf Course. The low 31 scores will advance to the Senior Championship match play at Harding Park along with the defending champion, who shall hold the number one seed for match play. Individual scores will also determine seeding for match play. Participants must be age 55 or older as of February 17, 2010.

NOTE: Ties for qualifying spots will be broken by a sudden death playoff upon conclusion of stroke play, except for the open flights, which shall be broken by the USGA method of matching cards. Additionally, ties for seeding in each flight shall be broken by the USGA method of matching cards.

STARTING TIMES:

All tournament qualifying rounds will begin at 7:30am unless otherwise noted.
Tee times and pairings shall be posted at Harding Park and Lincoln Park Golf Courses, the tournament office and on the tournament website at www.sfgolfchampionship.com prior to each day’s competition.

ENTRY FEE & REFUND POLICY:

  1. Entries shall be available December 01, 2009 and the deadline for entry applications is January 15, 2010.
  2. NO LATE ENTRIES.
  3. There will be no entry fee refunds after January 15, 2010.
  4. Entry fees include all individual stroke play qualifying green fees only.

GREEN FEES & CART POLICY:

  1. Green fees for match play shall be charged as follows: $70 for Harding Park; $35 for Lincoln Park; Men’s Senior rounds during the weekday match play rounds shall be charged $60. All green fees are charged per day. Green fees for finalists will be waived.
  2. Please note: The City of San Francisco accepts cash, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express for greens fees.
  3. For the Men’s and Women’s Championship Division, the use of carts will be limited to a player’s designated caddie only. (Appendix I – Local Rule Applies)
  4. The use of carts is optional for the Men’s Senior Championship and Open Flights Divisions. Contestants desiring to utilize a golf cart will pay $13 per person.
  5. Golf carts will be restricted to use on the golf cart paths only.

CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION:

  1. A contestant is eligible to play in only one division.
  2. USGA Rules will govern all play. Additionally, the NCGA Local Rules and Conditions of the Competition for 2010 shall apply and supplement the USGA Rules of Play. A copy of these rules will be available at each course prior to the start of the competition.
  3. The Men’s Championship Division semi–final and final matches will be contested over 36 holes.
  4. The Women’s Championship Division semi–final and final matches will be contested over 36 holes.
  5. The past year’s champions will be incorporated as the first seed match play in the Championship divisions. The medalist for the qualifying rounds will be seeded second. The past champion who is seeded first and wants to participate in stroke play qualifying for the chance of receiving medalist points automatically waives his or her exemption into match play. He or she must play into match play and be seeded accordingly.
  6. A fully completed entry form and tournament entry fee are to be submitted by each contestant simultaneously for an entry to be considered official.
  7. Practice rounds are available at the course subject to the San Francisco City and County approved green fee rates and current reservation system requirements.
  8. All city golf rules issued by the City and County of San Francisco Recreation and park Department shall apply.
  9. The practice area at Harding Park will open at 6:45am on all tournament days.
  10. It is recommended that all players wear appropriate golf attire in accordance with NCGA dress code.
  11. In the event the Men’s Championship Division, Women’s Championship Division, and/or the Senior Men’s Championship Division is oversubscribed, the field in each division shall be determined by date entry received.
  12. The Championship committee shall have the right to amend the format as reasonable necessary and any and all of its decisions shall be final regarding the competitions, rules and other factors relating to the tournament proper.

The NCGA has declared the following point allocation for the 2009 San Francisco City Golf Championship
- Men’s & Women’s Championship Divisions – 250 Points to the Champion
- Men’s Senior Championship Division – 200 Points to the Champion

The NCGA has generously offered to provide rules support to the 2010 San Francisco City Golf Championship.

  • 2009 San Francisco City Men’s Championship Match Play Qualifiers
  • Top 20 Individuals 2008-2009 NCGA Points List
  • 2009 NCGA Champions (Amateur, Master Division, Junior)
  • 2009 USGA Event Qualifiers (Amateur, Mid-Amateur, Public Links, Junior)
